Reading has always been a passion for me, it’s my favorite way to develop my mind, body & soul because it’s the most effective way to learn something. If you want to change your body, change what you eat & how you exercise. If you want to change your outlook on life, change what you read & put it into practice.
Listed below are my top 10 life-changing books. Unless you are determined to be miserable (which, strangely enough, some people are), these books will change your life for the better. I know it has changed mine!
1. You Can Heal Your Life ~ Louise Hay
Louise Hay has always been & always will be, what I call, my “Spiritual Mom”. I started reading Louise Hay at 17 & till this day reading her books (even the ones I’ve read a gazillion times!) will ALWAYS shift something in my thinking. She was an amazing woman & such a wonderful teacher, I will ALWAYS be grateful for her. There are a few revised copies, I have every single one of them since I’m 17! All of Louise Hay’s books are a must read. 😉
2. Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life ~Shakti Gawain
I started reading Shakti Gawain at the same time I started reading Louise Hay. She is another incredible author. Any of her books I highly recommend! Shakti Gawain is a New Age & personal development author. She played a huge part of my journey so far.
3. A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose ~Eckhart Tolle
This book took my over 15 years to not only read all of it, but understand! This is one of the most life changing books I’ve ever read. Yes, it’s very deep & takes a sense of openness to understand. I finally not only finished this book but completely understood what the hell he was talking about! It was during the most darkest time in my life did that “shift” take place! If you have it, read it, all of it, you WILL get it when you least expect!
4. The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment ~Eckhart Tolle
This is a powerful book that will guide you into living in the NOW! I love this book. An amazing book that takes you on the journey into the Now & leave your analytical mind & its false created self (the ego) behind. This isn’t as deep as A New Earth but it will get you onto the path of understanding it!
5. The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success ~Deepak Chopra
I love all of Deepak Chopra’s books. This book goes beyond money, it really teaches what abundance means. Karma (cause & effect) & Dharma (purpose in life) have been with us since the beginning of time & they form two of Chopra’s seven laws. A combination of Hindu & spiritualistic concepts, which teach the idea that personal success is NOT the outcome of hard work, precise plans or a driving ambition, but rather of understanding our basic nature as human beings & how to follow the Universal Laws.
6. The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (A Toltec Wisdom Book) ~Don Miguel Ruiz
Love, love, love this book also. A simple but powerful book. Ruiz defines four principles to practice in order to create love & happiness in your life. Utilizing & committing to these agreements is soooo simple, however, truly living these Four Agreements can be one of the hardest things you will ever do!
7. Eat, Pray Love: Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything ~Elizabeth Gilbert
Whenever I feel down or detached from myself, I re-read this book or watch the movie! Personally I love the book a tiny bit more than I love the movie. Whichever you choose, I HIGHLY recommend the book &/or movie! This book reminds me what I’m really here for, what my lessons are about & who my teachers have been.
“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.
A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master…” ~ Elizabeth Gilbert,
8. Divine Magic: The Seven Sacred Secrets of Manifestation ~Doreen Virtue
This book I’m currently putting into effect. This book will help you understand the 7 Universal Laws of Divine Magic. I also love all of Doreen Virtue’s books. Another author I’ve been reading since 17! This book is based on the secrets of Hermetic philosophy, an updated version of The Kybalion. If you’re into personal development, that’s what this book is about!
9. Healing With The Angels ~Doreen Virtue
Doreen Virtue introduced me to the Magic of working with Angels. Her inspirational work reveals how to work with the Angels to improve your physical, mental, & emotional health. This book gave me an eye opening experience, I learned so much from this book. This amazing author teaches all things Angelic. This book explains in great detail about numbers & the meanings behind their synchronicities.
10. A Course In Miracles ~Foundation For Inner Peace
Another book I started studying at 17 & didn’t really put into practice till my 40’s! Why? I wasn’t ready for the miracles this book has to offer. Want to change the way you see things? Want to begin noticing miracles all around you? Want to truly find peace? Then this is a must read. It’s a bit deep at times but nothing you can’t handle!
“Ignorance costs you more than you’ll ever know.”
Your dreams are waiting for you. What are you going to do to bring your dreams to life in 2018?
The next 12 months could be absolutely outstanding, or it could be just like any other year filled with disappointment, broken promises to yourself, where you fail to live up to your true potential, again. Most successful individuals place so much importance on their minds. They realize that they create their own reality by their beliefs & so they throw their full efforts into cultivating a mindset that inevitably leads them to the success they enjoy. While the average person forever blames people & circumstances for their failures, the successful individual always looks within for the source of both achievement & failure.
I have but one question for you: If your success in life is almost entirely a result of how you use your mind, how much time are you devoting to developing it???
I decided to start 2018 with a new habit, the habit of “‘asking for book recommendations”. I’d like to ask you to share a book that changed the way you look at life in the comments. Thank you!
Love & Light,
